Welcome to the 350 Reasons quilt project!
The 350 Reasons quilt is a global community art project to raise awareness about the number 350: the most important number on Earth. 350 is the number our top climate scientists around the world have determined is the highest safe level for carbon dioxide in our atmosphere (measured in parts per million because it is gas). The concentration of carbon dioxide in our atmosphere now is 392, and getting it back below 350 is the greatest challenge humanity now faces.
Each square of the quilt represents something someone loves about life on Earth-- one reason for us to work together to return our atmosphere to 350. The quilt currently has over 200 squares, and is still growing! Once it gets to 350 squares, it will be an interactive experience of 350 reasons to return to 350. Squares have been sent from all over the world: from Papua New Guinea to Texas and Canada to Equador. The youngest quilters are preschool classes, and the oldest ones are great grandmothers. Please make your own square and mail it to us to be sewn into the quilt... and get involved solving the climate crises in your own way.
